The opportunity was not simply to advise an entertainment business. It was to connect brand, product, technology, and industry relationships into a system capable of creating value across the entertainment ecosystem.
Monetization of interconnected nexus of brand, product, and industry relationships
From individual projects to an interconnected entertainment platform

SAGA Music Group began with a focused advisory mandate around a growing practice in music and entertainment. The opportunity quickly expanded.

Rather than approaching entertainment strategy as a series of isolated engagements, the work examined how brand development, technology, product engineering, and commercial relationships could reinforce one another across an increasingly interconnected network of artists, production teams, management companies, and entertainment organizations.

That network included collaborations and initiatives involving SAGA Music Group, YG Entertainment, Epic, Universal, Sony Music, Matrix Artists, Vault and Possible Productions, Dmani Group, and NVDVM.

The mandate therefore became broader than conventional consulting: develop business and product solutions capable of creating value across multiple participants in the entertainment ecosystem while building the strategic infrastructure required to support continued collaboration.

A multidisciplinary approach connected market strategy, brand development, platform thinking, product engineering, and stakeholder relationships as parts of the same growth system.

Designing around the entertainment ecosystem

Entertainment businesses operate through networks.

Artists depend on management, production, distribution, technology, audiences, brands, and commercial partners. Each participant may optimize for a different objective, but durable value emerges when those relationships can be designed to reinforce one another.

The work therefore focused on the broader architecture surrounding talent rather than treating individual projects as standalone engagements.

Brand development established stronger positioning and identity around artists, ventures, and entertainment initiatives. Platform and product engineering created pathways through which technology could support new experiences and business models. Strategic advisory helped connect those capabilities with changing market dynamics and opportunities across the wider entertainment industry.

"The strongest entertainment platforms do more than serve individual stakeholders. They create an architecture through which creators, partners, and commercial organizations can create greater value together.”

This systems perspective enabled initiatives to be considered across the full entertainment value chain—from creators and talent to production and management teams and the corporate organizations supporting them.

Relationships became part of the infrastructure itself. Access to different participants across the ecosystem made it possible to assemble the right combination of strategy, creative capability, technology, and commercial expertise around new opportunities.

From industry relationships to regenerative growth

The objective was not simply to deliver individual entertainment projects. It was to establish an interconnected capability through which relationships, expertise, technology, and market intelligence could continually generate new opportunities.

That required building capabilities capable of compounding across engagements.

  • Strategic advisory across music, media, and entertainment markets
  • Brand development for artists, ventures, and entertainment initiatives
  • Platform and product engineering
  • Technology-enabled business model development
  • Cross-functional solutions spanning creators, talent, production, and management
  • Commercial architecture connecting entertainment organizations and industry partners
  • Stakeholder networks capable of supporting new collaborations and opportunities

The resulting model connected capabilities that are often separated within entertainment organizations: creative strategy, business strategy, brand, technology, product development, and industry relationships.

Rather than beginning again with each engagement, knowledge and relationships accumulated. Each collaboration expanded the network; the network created access to new capabilities and opportunities; and those capabilities could then be recombined around subsequent projects.

Gil Smith II, CEO of SAGA Music Group and former Music Director with YG Entertainment, described the relationship as one that went substantially beyond the original consultancy mandate—highlighting the team's ability to challenge established assumptions, understand complex market dynamics, and develop innovative strategies across brand, platform, product, and business development.

For Avion, this is what Regenerative Innovation looks like in an entertainment ecosystem: creating structures through which relationships generate opportunities, opportunities develop new capabilities, and those capabilities increase the value of the network over time.
